Activity Summary

Would you like to learn and experience many Japanese cultures in one place at one time? You can experience different kinds of cultures at a scenic place with a traditional stage. The culture experiences include, Wadaiko (Japanese drums), tea ceremony, Japanese sweet cooking class (to be eaten at the tea ceremony), Origami, Edo Tsumami Zaiku, Shinobue, Kimono wearing and photo shooting time at the stage of Noh. It is a perfect experience for families and groups.

It will be held at the traditional Noh stage in a Japanese garden which is surrounded by 24,467 sqm. land in the suburb of Tokyo. Noh is also one of Japanese traditional masked dance-dramas like the Kabuki.

“Wadaiko” is traditional drums in Japan and played in many festivals in Japan. The sound of the Japanese drum is so powerful that you can feel throughout your body.

Tea ceremony is the most typical experience for foreign travelers. It is a Japanese cultural ritual which involve preparing tea in a ceremonious fashion and presentation. You will drink the tea accompanied by a Japanese sweet which you will make on the same day.

Japanese sweet cooking lesson, you will have a chance to make a traditional Japanese sweets  for the tea ceremony.

Edo Tsumami Zaiku is a Japanese traditional handicrafts using tweezers. You will learn to make different figures such as flowers, animals, insects and so on. This handcraft making has been a common practice since the Edo period.

Shinobue is a Japanese old flute which is one of traditional musical instruments, you’ll have a chance to experience playing one.

Kimono is a very common traditional Japanese clothing which is being worn since the Edo period. You will be taught by an instructor on how to wear it. You will have a chance to take a photo wearing kimono on the “noh” which is a historical stage at the venue, but you need to bring a pair of “tabi” (a Japanese socks for Kimono) for photo on the ancient stage.

Origami is Japanese typical handicraft using colorful papers which is very popular not only for children but also for adults.

All these lessons will be conducted by an instructor with limited English skills, unless you opt to have an interpreter. If you choose the plan with the interpreter, we will provide you a professional interpreter for all the lessons with the language of your choice. The interpreter will also pick you up from your accommodation.

If you can’t prepare a pair of tabi socks in advance, you need to select the fee for a pair of tabi socks. In case your foot size is over 29cm, you need to select the fee for over 29cm foot size.

Big size of tabi socks aren’t common in Japan, so it has to be custom made which can be very costly. We appreciate your understanding.

You need to prepare your own lunch and drinks before your trip as there are no food shops at the venue.

You are required to wear tabi socks before going up to the stage. This must be strictly followed, otherwise you will not be allowed to go up the stage.
